Audiophyte Jun 8, 2008 #2 If I remember correctly they are the Infinitys with the 15' woofer built in them. Great speaker for rock & roll, especially driven at high volume levels! Not the most detailed speaker in the world if your into classical music etc. - but for the price your getting them for a good value if they're in decent shape.

i have owned my infinity speakers for about three years now and i have to say they only get better with age. my main music preference is heavy metal and these speakers definitely SLAM!!!!!the bass is subwoofer quality and the midrange and treble aren't. SM 155 loudspeakers has very good bass response without distortion, medium sounds are.

Thought I would dredge up this old thread and give my opinion: I have the SM-155's, and they sound great to my ears, and I have many other pairs of speakers that get much better reviews. They fall in the class of Cerwin Vega AT-15's..and D-9's that seem to get much more admiration.

I used to have to bring up the bass on my Polk speakers to pull the low end out. With the Infinity I found that the sound is exceptional with the receiver set flat. Response is very good across the board, and the bass could cause structural damage if used excessively. No subwoofer is required with these speakers, rated at a 29 Hz low end response.

The infinity SM/155 speakers are by far the best speakers I've ever heard or owned. At first, I thought they were a little overpriced considering I found them at a pawn shop,but when I shopped around finding even other Infinity speakers much smaller,less power and obviously more expensive I rushed back right before closing time and SNAG!

BTW I also have B&W 801 matrix S3 speakers in my studio. The Infinitys are not quite as good but they were 1/20 th the price.. I bought a pair of the Infinity SM-155's from uBid back in 1998, were some of the last new ones available at the time, got them for some ridiculously low price, around $400. These retailed for $1200-$1500 I believe.

I am thinking about buying a pair of SM 155 Infinity speakers. They will be going in a 1000 square foot room and will be powered by a Sansui 9090 (115 WPC, vintage style). Are these a good model to own? They are reasonably priced and am told they are very efficient (102 db @1w). I would appreciate any comments before I pick them up. Thanks in.
